No one has successfully explained to me why Akiyama and Omori are no longer teaming together. They just seemingly stopped after Akiyama won the Triple Crown from Akebono, and now it’s not even being addressed. I don’t get it, but oh well.
Regardless, the dynamic of them being on opposing teams caused this match to work despite there being nothing inherently interesting about the work. Soya and Kashin did not add much at all though. Akiyama won after an exploder on Omori. (***)
