John Cena vs. Alberto del Rio from WWE 2015

This was an open challenge match for Cena’s United States Championship.

Zeb Colter came out to answer Cena’s challenge, and he said it was time to that everyone from different backgrounds should get along. Alberto El Patron then came out to answer the challenge.

While this match was not super hot and ADR did not get the reaction during the match of a conquering hero, I am excited for Albertio del Rio to be back in a company that plays to his in-ring strengths. He should probably turn heel quickly though and then resume his position as a not-quite-main-eventer where he can regularly have fun midcard matches. He will be ideally placed to do that as the new United States Champion. He pinned Cena in fairly easy fashion here, as he took the majority of the offense and then won cleanly with a kneel superkick. This was as close to Cena getting squashed outside of a Brock match as there will likely ever be.

The troubling part of this ordeal was ADR’s association with Zeb Colter. I would have him give Zeb Colter a kneeling superkick as soon as possible. He was super racist character with zero redeeming characteristics. Using Alberto del Rio, a performer fired for slapping an actual racist employee, for Zeb’s redemption is backwards as fuck. WWE will forever suck. (**3/4)
