Timothy Thatcher really has the physical tools to be a near-consensus best wrestler in the world. He really has never seemed interested in that. He instead prefers to be consistent and true to himself at the expense of many high profile matches.
That leads to matches like this where they spend the first half of the match doing nothing of significance or of any real entertainment value. Now, things did thankfully pick up in second half as they did a ton of back-and-forth action where they really emphasized the struggle to deliver on each move. It just took too much useless time to get to the good stuff. [Smith won via crossface.] (**1/2)
