The winner of this match got a shot at Bray Wyatt’s WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania 2017.
Randy Orton is very much back to being Randy Orton here. He’s no longer fun-tag-wrestler-in-the-Wyatts Randy Orton. He is fully back to 2008-2010 dullard who will go to extreme lengths to protect his body so that he doesn’t hobble around like Shawn and Taker are forced to do. It is so boring.
WITH ALL THAT SAID, the final sequence here was su-fucking-perb. AJ has lost over and over and over and over and over again in the WWE when he went for the springboard forearm. Here, he realized Orton was going to reverse it into an RKO and managed to hold back on the springboard forearm attempt just in time. He then foolishly went for the 450. That backfired and then Orton popped him up for an RKO anyway. Lovely. (**3/4)
