This was for Shibata’s RPW British Heavyweight Championship.
This was far more methodical than expected, but it did not make for a bad match in the slightest. Instead, this felt like a test balloon match for a potential feud (that may or may not come to pass). It was a match where it felt like they were trying to figure out if there was physical chemistry and a natural dynamic to work off of for a longer rivalry. With that possibility in mind, this match might be the first chapter of a great story in 2017. If not, it was a cool novelty match that was enjoyable from beginning to end. Even if it never got out of second gear. Shibata won with the PK. (***1/4)
