Story of the Match: The only story I need to tell you about this match is that Ark Cannon switched to tights. This is a major development, and one I never thought I’d live to see.
Er ma gawd, there is a second major news story that I must report on. Not only did Darin Corbin do the slow motion spot, but he did the Five Knuckle Shuffle during it. It was grand.
The match was a prototypical independent wrestling match that you see a lot of in PWG, ROH, etc. After the first few minutes, there was very little in the way of gaga. Cannon and Corbin seemed out to prove that they can work a “Young Bucks” match, and quite frankly, they did just that. Cannon was eventually pinned clean after a Panama City Destroyer and a Jig ‘n’ Tonic.
Analysis: Picture how awful Arik Cannon could be in the WWN Universe. Now picture that same man working super hard. It’s nearly impossible right? Well, that’s what happened here. Corbin and Cannon work really hard in Chikara, and they can still deliver good matches with the right opponents. That’s what happened here. I enjoyed this slightly less than the opener, but it’s another solid match on this card for sure. Long time readers of my opinions might be shocked to read this next though: this match made me want Cannon and Corbin on the full-time Chikara roster.
Match Rating: ***1/4
