Story of the Match: As far as I know, there is no issue between these two wrestlers. It’s possibly Heidi’s Chikara singles debut though. Should I look it up? I’ll look it up. Yes, I was correct. Her only past Chikara appearance was in a tag match with Saturyne at the 2013 Tag World Grand Prix.
Ophidian did a lot of work on Heidi’s right knee. Unfortunately, Heidi apparently only knows how to attack him with his right leg. While she would sell the leg when moving, she kept using it as offense until she got smart and hit a back suplex. Heidi eventually missed a dive, and reinjured her knee. Ophidian capitalized and defeated her with a pinning combination. Ophidian was acting somewhat rudo here, as he refused to shake her hand before the match (but he did after the match). I’m not sure what that was about.
Analysis: This was a really sound match that accomplished several things (on top of being very entertaining). It showcased Heidi’s abilities as a wrestler, and she proved she deserves to be a member of the roster. It told a story from beginning to end in a logical and compelling way. Heidi’s best weapon is her kicking leg. Ophidian worked over that leg. Heidi tried to use it but she had to adjust her offense. A high risk move aggravated the injury. Ophidian pounced for the win. Both wrestlers were really on point; this show is off to a good start.
