Story of the Match: The BDK returned at NPWD as a part of the evil stable looking to kill Chikara once and for all. Naturally, Chikara management decided to officially book them for the return show. Does that make any sense? Of course not.
The match was red hot, as the fans were so excited that Chikara was back. The wrestlers did not waste the environment, and they produced a razor sharp trios match. The structure of the match was basic: the BDK dominated the match for a while, and the Envoy made a spirited comeback. Unfortunately, the finish took the wind out of the building, as the crowd did not want to see the BDK defeat some of their favorite wrestlers.
The crowd made clear that they wanted Jakob instead of this version of the BDK.
Analysis: In what will likely be a recurring trend on this show, despite not caring about storyline that caused this match to exist, I was really happy watching it and thought it was a great success. Everyone in the match looked on point, and the trios match hid the deficiencies of the individuals on both teams. The match proved what will hopefully become an increasingly popular trend in all of American independent wrestling: having a short match is not a bad thing if you use that time well. These guys used their time as well as one could hope. Despite the displeasing finish, this was a great way for Chikara to start their return show.
